Nestled in the rolling checkered hills of the Shenandoah Valley, an area rich in Virginia history, is the historic 1852 heart-of-pine farmhouse build by Jacob Swartz for his new bride Lucinda Zirkle. The Swartz family home and Jacob's river-bluff cobbler shop, which has evolved into a secluded and inviting guest cottage for today's traveler (where you are our only guest), stand peacefully at the very end of a tree lined country lane overlooking the Shenandoah River's North Fork.
Steeped in history this historic house was well documented by Jacob; from building costs to items pillaged by Federal troops under the command of General George Armstrong Custer.
A full gourmet breakfast is served at your leisure in the cottage or weather permitting on your own river-bluff terrace. Breakfasts vary with the season but always consists of juice, seasonal fruit, vegetable or soup, a savory egg entree or something sweet such as buttermilk pancakes, Belgium waffles, French toast or crepes. (special diets are accommodated).
